What is Canada Futures?
Canada Futures is a high-performance softball program focused on developing athletes and coaches through world-class coaching, collegiate exposure, and mentorship. Our mission is to empower athletes to reach their highest potential, both on and off the field.
Who can participate in Canada Futures?
Canada Futures is open to high-performance softball players, coaches, and teams looking for elite training, exposure to collegiate opportunities, and leadership development.
What are the benefits of joining Canada Futures?
Participants receive access to top-tier coaching, exposure to college scouts, specialized training, mentorship, and networking opportunities. The program helps athletes reach their full potential and prepares them for college-level competition.
What is involved if I make a team?
It all begins with the ID Camp. This is where athletes get their first taste of training with Canada Futures. Athlete’s complete assessments, showcase their skills in scrimmages, and receive feedback. All skill assessment is recorded and catalogued in our evaluation program, and we complete and in-depth analysis to determine which players will get offers. Athletes may receive an invitation to join a Canada Futures team based on the ID Camp.
If selected, there is an opportunity for the player to train over three weekends in August/September, and travel in October/November on our different trips. We have a Georgia, Texas, and California experience that we have structured to enable university and college access for your player. Please note these aren’t tournament trips, they are exhibition game series and showcase events. An example is the week in Georgia, we will train and compete against College programs in multiple locations, gathering access to numerous facilities and providing information to our participants to help them support their next decision.
All travel is completed before December, which enables our multisport athletes to still participate in their other sports, or to return to their Club programs for their winter training.
Who is this applicable for?
For Canada Futures first year offering this in Alberta, we will be focussing on our program for Athletes born in 2009, 2010, 2011.
We hope to expand to the program year two to support our younger (2012/2013) athletes, they still have the option to attend the camp in BC!
When does this take place?
June 26-28, 2026: Elks Ball Diamonds, 4401 Rollyview Road, Leduc, Alberta

How is Leduc Minor Softball Involved?
We are just participants who are facilitating the program coming to Alberta for access for our Leduc Athletes, but also to all Athletes across the province. As an association, we have no access to registration data, no decision making on players selected for the program, and no Leduc Jets team is being formed within this space. This is a Canada Futures program, with their branding, under their structure, their jerseys, their trips. We do have coaches within our organization that will be supporting with evaluations, however the leadership team at Canada Futures holds all authority and oversight on this process. We foundationally believe that providing access for players and coaches is something that should be open and available to all, and we want to support the development of all in Alberta.

Canada Futures is a high-performance program that operates out of BC. They develop next level softball players and coaches through world-class coaching, collegiate exposure, and mentorship empowering athletes and coaches to reach their highest potential between and beyond the white lines.
A current challenge we have faced is the ability to bridge the gap between youth club softball, regional, provincial and national teams for both athletes and coaches, while also trying to support the need to provide a direct pipeline to colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. We have turned to Canada Futures to support us with this here in Alberta.
This January we sent 8 of our coaches to the Canada Futures Coaching Symposium and this learning opportunity for them was invaluable. We have been in discussions in regard to their 5 star coaching development and enhancing our coaching program here within our association. But supporting great coaches goes beyond our own association, it is a provincial piece that sharing opportunities to grow our coaches and to create opportunities for access for more is beneficial to all.
As an organization, we know that great coaches support the love of the game and the success of the athlete. We are thankful we have such amazing volunteers within Alberta who strive to make Softball a great space. We continually strive to support the development of coaches and we think any opportunity for a coach to grow is one we should share.
Canada Futures coaching opportunities are the secondary piece of the development of the program in Alberta. They offer a structured development program that has PD credits for coaches and works alongside the NCCP structure.
