Why Choose the Leduc 747s?

The Leduc 747s is more than a softball team. It is a year-round development program designed to help athletes grow on the field, in the classroom, and in their everyday lives. Our focus is on building confident, skilled, and competitive players who are committed to striving for excellence both individually and as teammates.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking athletes who demonstrate:

A passion for softball and a strong team-first attitude
A desire to work hard, compete, and play at the A or B level
The commitment and availability to train and practice year-round
A dedication to continuous personal development
A commitment to supporting teammates and achieving team goals
The discipline to practice independently, whether through pitching, catching, throwing, hitting, fitness training, or other skill development activities

Fees & Registration

Players selected to a Leduc 747s team are responsible for two fees:

LMSA Registration Fees

Registration fees include:

Softball Alberta insurance
GEMSA registration
Leduc Jets Spring Classic registration
Indoor training during April
Practice diamonds twice weekly (additional bookings available)
Team equipment
Professionally lined diamonds
And more

Registration Fees by Division

U13: $310
U15: $350
U17/U19: $375

747s Program Fee- $550 per player

The 747s program fee includes:

Two custom team jerseys
Team hoodie
Two pairs of premium socks
Team visor
Weekly indoor practices from October through April (typically Sundays in gyms and turf facilities)
Ten AK Performance team training sessions focused on strength and conditioning

Additional Costs

Families are responsible for tournament fees, travel expenses, accommodations, and additional training opportunities. However, team fundraising and sponsorship initiatives can significantly offset these costs. LMSA teams have historically been very successful in fundraising and securing community support.

The Commitment

Competitive softball requires a significant time commitment, as teams train and develop year-round.

While the schedule is demanding, the rewards are substantial. Athletes experience tremendous growth physically, mentally, and socially through a supportive environment built on commitment, accountability, hard work, and teamwork. This culture helps players achieve both personal and team goals while developing confidence that extends beyond the softball field.

Teams begin training shortly after selection and continue developing together throughout the off-season.

What a Typical Season Looks Like

Pre-Season (Fall to April)

Athletes can expect to train at least once per week, with additional practices determined by the Head Coach.

Activities may include:

Weekly team practices
Strength and conditioning sessions
Indoor games and scrimmages
Fundraising activities
Team-building events
Classroom and athlete development sessions

Regular Season (April to July)

Schedules vary by team and coaching staff, but athletes can generally expect:

40 to 60 games per season
1 to 3 practices per week
Additional exhibition games
Significant weekend travel commitments

Typical Events Include:

April/May

Ice Breaker Tournament (BC)
GEMSA League Play (where available
U13/U15 Three Provincial tiering weekends
Approximately two tournaments per month
Five to six tournaments throughout the season

June & July

Major out-of-province events such as:
Canada Cup
S. tournaments
Saskatchewan events
Additional exhibition opportunities
Provincial Championships (July)

August (For qualifying teams):

U13 A- Top 2 teams advance to Westerns

What to Expect as a Leduc 747

Outstanding Facilities

Leduc Softball operates five dedicated diamonds, giving our teams access to well-maintained, professionally lined fields. Parents and coaches are not required to prepare the diamonds before games or practices.

Elite Equipment

We invest approximately $20,000 annually in new equipment to provide coaches and athletes with the tools they need to maximize development and performance.

High-Performance Training

Athletes have access to excellent training facilities and connections with some of the area's top coaches and performance specialists.

Premier Home Tournament

The Leduc Jets Spring Classic attracts more than 240 applications for just 52 tournament spots. This event provides athletes with the opportunity to compete against teams from across Western Canada while strengthening our local softball community.

As a proud Canada Futures Alberta partner organization, our athletes gain access to exclusive development opportunities, including fall travel experiences and exposure to collegiate softball environments in the United States.

Our History

The Leduc 747s competitive A/B program was launched in 2023 and has grown steadily each year. We continue to expand programming, training opportunities, and athlete development pathways while building a strong foundation for future success.

Our commitment to player development has already resulted in multiple provincial medal-winning teams.
