EVALUATION SCHEDULE

Mar. 11, 2024

The association will have multiple teams at every level this season. One of the supporting factors to make these teams is player evaluations to help the committee determine team creation.

All sessions will be at Turf Training Centre Nisku: 1030-34th Avenue Nisku registration table will be at the South entrance of the building, but there is lots of parking around the back. All Players should arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes early and get checked in at the registration table. Each player should be ready with all their equipment and shoes on, and a positive approach to the day. Warmup will start promptly at the session time. Please note it takes almost 20 minutes to get to TURF from Leduc, please schedule accordingly.

The session times are:

U11- 11:00am to 1:00pm March 17, 2024

U13- 1:00pm to 3:00pm March 17, 2024

U15- 6:00pm to 8:00pm March 17, 2024

FAQS:

Who is doing the evaluations? These evaluation sessions will be completed by volunteers who have coached or played in the association, coaches from other associations (Baseball), and other knowledgeable parties. At some points we may use volunteers for who do have children that are part of this identified age category, but they will not be doing the task of assigning the evaluation numbers.

Will we get the results of the evaluations? No, we have a rubrix for evaluations and this set of criteria is one of the factors for team creation. The focus in not on where your child placed in comparison to other players, it is about creating a group who can grow together. The assurance is that all players are being evaluated by a set criteria by very knowledgeable coaches. Unlike in other sports, the teams that will be made will start off playing one another, not assigned different level playing divisions. Greater Edmonton Minor softball does a 3 week cycle of games, and then schedules the next set of games based on best fits for teams.

What do we need to bring? Filled water bottle, indoor runners, cleats (no metal), or turf shoes, sport appropriate athletic clothing or ball pants, glove, infield mask, helmet, bat if you have one.

What should my player expect?  2 hours of station based evaluations. They will be in pre-assigned small groups, doing skills at each station, rotating through.

Can I stay to watch? We recommend parents/guardians step away from the facility during evaluations. If you decide to stay, you must be in one of the sitting areas around turf training center, not alongside the field of play. You should not be interacting with your player during any point of their session. If we have to ask you a second time, we will ask you to leave. Our athletes deserve a safe, distraction free space to be amazing and play their game

For the players that identified that they cannot attend Sunday, you will receive a separate email with the makeup time on Sunday March 24, 2024.
